MATH GAMES FOR CLASSROOM BREAKS

Here are 15 math games that are great for those transitions or to fill a short break.  For example, the game “I’m Thinking of a Number” where students work in pairs and ask each other comparison questions (Is your number greater than 5?) to figure out the number.  Another game is called “Which One Doesn’t Belong.”  In this game the class sees 4 objects or drawings and has to determine the one that does not belong.  Sometimes there may be more than one answer, like in the example below.  Some may say the triangle does not belong because it is the only object that is not in the shape of a square.  Others may say the green square because it is the only shape that is not red.  The goal of the game is for students to observe and relate properties of objects.  These games are shared by Early Family Math and can be downloaded here.
